Cell Phones and Planes

For all of us who have been on a plane, we know that cell phones are not allowed to be used during flight. The concern here is that the cell phone transmissions with in some way disrupt the running of the aircraft. This only creates that question of “does it really effect the plane to any extent?”
Even the pilots wonder if this concern is justified as many of the rest of us do. Does a real problem really exist? Over the years there have been very few incidents of radiation from a cell phone causing any problem and that took place in a baggage compartment with a smoke detector.
Currently, the British Civil Aviation Authorities (CAA) is now allowing on airplanes, wireless communications. This change came about because of the option of the “flight mode” on cell phones that will disable just the radio portion. This new law will then allow the rest of the passengers to hear the intimate details of the lives of other, just like everywhere else in the world.
